Geographical Indicators: Capturing the Commercial Potential of the Diversity of Filipino Goods and Services

Due to a diverse cultural heritage brought about by being situated in an archipelago, Filipinos have developed multitudes of goods and services from the towns and regions where these are produced. LES Philippines has invited the Director of the Bureau of Trademarks of the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines, Atty. Jesus Antonio Z. Ros, to talk about geographical indications, how the use of this intellectual property right will help accelerate immediate economic gains, and why intellectual property practitioners should assist in the protection of this IP using the recently released draft Implementing Rules and Regulations.
