LES Philippines and LESI Past President Patricia A. O. Bunye accepted in person last 6 June 2022 on behalf of LES Philippines, the “Intellectual Property Citation” awarded by the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) as one of its private sector partners on the occasion of the agency's 25th-anniversary celebration.
On 26 November 2020, LES Philippines, under the leadership of LES Philippines Past President Bienvenido A. Marquez III, and IPOPHL's Director General Rowel S. Barba, executed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) during the Society's Annual General Membership meeting.
Under the MOU, LES Philippines will (i) cooperate, coordinate, and jointly organize a certification course or advanced learning program on licensing of intellectual property rights in the Philippines; (ii) cooperate, coordinate, and jointly discuss the creation and publication, or contribution to, a regular journal or publication on intellectual property and innovation in the Philippines with IPOPHL as well as support other research initiatives on IP and innovation; (iii) cooperate, coordinate, and support the various partnerships of IPOPHL with IPOPHL-endorsed higher educational institutions to develop a course on intellectual property, especially in the field of licensing and technology transfer; and (iv) partner, actively support and cooperate with IPOPHL in its different projects and initiatives, specifically to raise awareness of IP to different audiences by providing resource persons, experts, and other available information materials from LES International.
Currently, LES Philippines Vice-President for Administration Divina P.V. Ilas-Panganiban is hammering out the details with IPOPHL's IP Academy to implement the licensing course that the agency will offer in 2022.
Aside from Patricia and Divina, LES Philippines Corporate Secretary Reena C. Mitra-Ventanilla and Director Michael Jorge Peralta comprise the core of the Licensing Trainors' Pool of the Society.
